About

Our Beginnings

The beginnings of PRIZEFIGHTER date back to 1999 when Mick Akkway, an Australian boxer found his passion stolen from him when a motor vehicle injury took him from the ring. Through retaining the desire that fueled his successes he channeled this setback towards a new venture to get him back into the world he knows so well.

Developing Prizefighter

An ownership change in 2007 injected investment and product development into the brand. A new team was established, trademarks obtained globally, and the brands values reassessed. Our focus is on developing a new, innovative and sophisticated range for our target consumer. PRIZEFIGHTER Head Designer Kristian Pechotsch has previously designed for global titans of surfwear such as Rip Curl and Quiksilver as well as streetwear titans such as Mossimo and Stussy. He has taken this experience and is now developing premium quality sports streetwear unique to the market with PRIZEFIGHTER.

PRIZEFIGHTER stands for beating adversity and not accepting NO for an answer. PRIZEFIGHTER embraces a generation that is not afraid of expressing their passion and determination through contemporary fashion. Our products are design driven incorporating the freshest contemporary art and techniques To enhance ones ability our garment styles utilise innovative design features with classic style and an eye for detail. Like a Prizefighter, we take a no compromise attitude to research, preparation and quality.

Our Launch

Prizefighter is launching its first line in Southern Hemisphere Winter 2010 with a range set to build the foundation for the brands image. PRIZEFIGHTER garments are refined and sharp utilising contemporary artwork and embellishments while blending modern technology with classic styling. The range portrays the spirit and history on which the label was built.

Charity

Prizefighter and Justin Poore are currently involved in helping the Rwandan people who have been devastated by war, genocide and poverty in recent years. We have developed a pre-launch range to benefit these people through the Hope:Rwanda charity and raise awareness. We have been able to assist in building purpose-built communities for widows and orphans with Justin personally donating his time in the rebuilding process.
